Bench Pressing in the Gym

To perform a bench press you will lay down on your back on the bench with your feet flat on the floor. Grip the barbell at a distance roughly equal to the width of your shoulders. Bring the barbell down to your chest. Then, return the barbell to the starting position until your arms are straight up overhead. Inhale while lowering down the weight and exhale while lifting it up. Begin with a low weight and increase the resistance as you gain strength.
